More about the X-Rotor

The part your pads touch is steel, 1.8 mm thick, and Carbon-Ti says it can be used with any pad. Everything inside it is there to save weight: a carbon fiber body, Grade 5 titanium rivets and washers, and a 7075 aluminum Centerlock adapter behind a laser-engraved titanium plate.

This is the third version, and the first made for Centerlock hubs: the one before it needed a third-party adapter. Carbon-Ti redesigned the track to improve braking, shed heat and wear pads more evenly, and rounded its edges to meet UCI rules. It developed the rotor with UAE Team Emirates, who tested it on the team’s Colnago V4RS race bikes.

Each rotor comes with a low-profile lockring that suits hubs with 12, 15 or 20 mm thru-axles. Carbon-Ti’s weights are for the rotor alone, and the lockring adds 8 grams. We fit X-Rotors to Regroup custom builds, and the one in these photos is on a Mosaic RT-Zero.

Which size do I need?
The one your bike has now: the diameter is marked on the rotor, and your frame and fork are built around it. Most road and gravel bikes run 160 mm at the front and 140 or 160 mm at the rear. Each rotor is sold singly, so a bike needs two. If you’re not sure about yours, ask us before you order.
Will it work with my brakes?
It fits Centerlock hubs, and Carbon-Ti says it can be used with any pad, with organic pads recommended on the 140 mm. It isn’t compatible with Campagnolo and Fulcrum AFS hubs. Fit new pads with new rotors, and bed them in with at least twenty stops from 25 km/h. Carbon-Ti says the braking is at its best after a few hundred kilometers.
