Unlike your typical concept bike, the OPEN UPPER Concept is available and rideable. As you might have noticed, we've cut OPEN's signature dots for ease of writing but spelt correctly, OPEN's CONCE.PT. bike is an imaginatively named gravel bike that signals its new Portuguese credentials - the PT meaning Portugal. As part of the brand's OPEN 2.0 era, OPEN now produces its entire range in Portugal, which the brand has promoted as a net positive for sustainability, proximity to its home base of Switzerland, communication and many other factors.
For longtime OPEN watchers, the UPPER CONCEPT inherits much of OPEN's celebrated design aesthetic but meets modern expectations of aero performance. At this juncture, OPEN's Gerard Vroomen would undoubtedly step in to mention that, while there is a greater awareness of aerodynamics across the OPEN line-up, it comes at zero comprise to OPEN's beloved ride feel, which, as its riders would tell you, trends to the sensational. So compliant is an OPEN frame that its beguiling blend of performance and comfort has been the yardstick for which many other brands have measured the ride characteristics of their bikes. That many have been left wanting is down to Gerard's revered engineering abilities - our words, not his.

The OPEN UPPER is a light, nimble gravel bike for fast racing or riding. Thanks to its incredible comfort, speed and wide-band versatility, you could overnight in the wild and join a fast tarmac group ride the next morning - although you might want to change your tires and leave your bags by the campfire before hitting the asphalt.
Aero Ahead
In OPEN's world, riding faster and farther requires low drag and high comfort. The Swiss brand's new frameset maintains OPEN's legendary frame compliance while adding aero where the bike meets the air - at the front.
Size is Everything
The OPEN UPPER hits the trail with a custom mindset, with all five sizes (only two sizes for the UPPER CONCEPT) getting their own tube shapes, geometry, carbon layup and many handlebar options.
