Beauty, as they say, is in the eye of the rider. But we’d challenge anyone not to gaze at the Pegoretti Elio, the latest stainless steel racer from the storied Italian brand and not get a bump to their beat.

The Pegoretti Elio is handmade in Italy by genuine artisans with a heritage of making bikes for legends like Pantani, Indurain and many other giants of professional cycling. It’s a small shop with a huge legacy that builds bikes one at a time, for one rider at a time.

What makes Elio so compelling is that it ticks so many boxes and marries a timeless fidelity with future-forward tech. You get a stainless steel frame with stock or bespoke geometry, made and painted (in wild, wild ways if you so wish) by hand in Verona, as well as UDH compliance, electronic-only groupset compatibility, disc brakes, internal routing and lines that want to flow all night.

How it became so balanced to the eye is the tale of how Elio came to pass, and how Pietro, co-owner of Pegoretti and Master of the ‘Bottega’, worked tirelessly to evolve the Pegoretti design language to incorporate internal routing and create a wholly new, hyper-modern steel racing bike. His decisions informed Elio’s tapering top tube, its enlarged downtube and the melding of Pegoretti’s oversized signature stays; specifications that would be irrelevant if the sum wasn’t so pleasing. It just works.

We’ll have an interview with Pietro here soon. In the meantime, enjoy the release film above and the gallery below. And don’t forget, as an official Pegoretti partner, Regroup is the perfect place to start your Elio story, whether you live nearby or far away.
